PRIMA Invites Students to Apply to its 2015 Student Scholarship Program

2015 Student Scholarships

The Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) invites students to apply to the 2015 Student Scholarship Program.

Each year, PRIMA awards two scholarships to students enrolled in public policy and public administration programs. The scholarship covers conference registration fees, meals, hotel accommodations, and transportation costs to attend PRIMA’s 36th Annual Conference in Houston, Texas. The conference will take place on June 7-10, 2015. It will offer more than 50 sessions related to insurance, risk and loss control, risk management, pooling, schools, human resources, legal and regulatory issues, and enterprise risk management. Students will be able to attend any of these educational sessions in addition to the special events hosted by PRIMA.

The scholarship winners will be paired with mentors who are experienced risk managers and PRIMA members. They will help the students network, gain industry knowledge, and expose them to other learning (and possible job) opportunities before, during, and after the 2015 Annual Conference. The winners will also receive a complimentary one-year student membership to PRIMA.

The deadline to submit the student scholarship applications is Friday, February 20, 2015.

Please take the time to inform your students and colleagues about this great opportunity. To download the application materials or to learn more about this program, click here.

Hello Baylor University Gamma Iota Sigma chapter,

I work with the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), a large industry organization. For the past three years, the CLM has sponsored an internship program for students interested in a career in the claims industry. I have more than 30 8-week internship openings for the summer with some of the biggest insurance companies in the industry. Each internship pays $6,400. Many of our past interns have gone on to full-time employment in the industry. I’ve attached a flyer promoting the program and hope you’ll share it with your students. Complete details and the application can be found online at www.theclm.org/internship.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good afternoon,

I want to remind you of the upcoming deadline of March 1st for the AAMGA Student Research Contest. If you have not already decided to participate, I would like to invite your students to be a part of our fifth annual AAMGA Student Research Contest. With this solicitation, the AAMGA seeks research papers on property and casualty industry-related topics focused on the issues and dilemmas faced by organizations and individuals in the Wholesale or Excess and Surplus Lines industry. Specific details can be found in the attached flyer or in this one-minute promotional video featuring Noelle Codispoti.

Two winning papers will be selected from the submissions and the authors will be awarded $2000 and invited to attend (with their professors), at our expense, the AAMGA Annual Meeting at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC, May 17-20, 2015. Here, they will be recognized for their achievement, and this event, attended by over 1000 influential decision-makers, is an invaluable networking experience.

In addition, the winners’ research papers will be released to trade publications, including the Wholesale Insurance News (WIN) Magazine dedicated specifically to the Excess and Surplus Lines Industry.

I sincerely hope you will encourage your students to be a part of this opportunity. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Jeff
