Good afternoon!

This e-mail is a reminder that the deadline for the NAPSLO Internship Program is fast approaching! Applications are due by December 1, 2013, this coming Sunday, and we ask that all of you please encourage your students to apply.

Some highlights of the program are included below:

· It’s a nine week internship in the surplus lines industry.
· Five weeks are spent with a surplus lines carrier and four weeks with a wholesale broker.
· Emphasis on hands-on work, projects and shadowing industry leaders.
· Top interns selected to attend the NAPSLO Annual Convention – a great networking and career building opportunity – and are considered for expense paid scholarships to learn about the London and Bermuda surplus lines marketplaces.
· Host firms located in a variety of cities including: New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, Scottsdale, Tampa, Los Angeles and Kansas city.
· Host firms pay $800/wk salary and NAPSLO reimburses or pays travel and housing expenses.

Students should apply online here (the application is also avaible on the NAPSLO wesbite under "Internship") and are also asked to provide a resume, copy of their unofficial transcripts and two letters of recommendation.

I hope that all of you will consider encouraging your students to apply, I think this is truly an opportunity for students to have a great industry experience without having to invest their own funds to moving somewhere for the summer. It’s also a great opportunity to get real hands on experience rather than being assigned busy work on a regular basis; this is a substantive program and we place a premium on a great intern experience.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at the information below. Here’s hoping I’ll work with some of your students next summer!

Sincerely,

Justin Mohn

Subject: Reaching students re: NAPSLO Internship Program

My name is Justin Mohn, I work with the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices in running their annual summer internship program. We are in the process of reaching out to key schools and educators to encourage them to have their students apply for our nine-week internship in the surplus lines industry.

The NAPSLO internship is designed to be a comprehensive view of the industry, with interns spending five weeks with a surplus lines carrier and four weeks with a wholesale broker. During this time, they will have access to every department and senior leaders at their hosts, and will be given an opportunity to get hands-on experience through their daily work and projects. Each intern is paid a salary of $800/wk and most housing and transportation expenses are reimbursed by NAPSLO. The most successful candidates are selected to attend the NAPSLO Annual Convention, where they will receive full access to the premier networking and business event for the surplus lines industry. Two scholarships are awarded to interns at the Convention for expenses-paid studies of the Lloyd’s market in London and the Bermuda surplus lines market. Many, even most, of our interns are offered positions in the industry during or shortly after their internship and go on to successful surplus lines and insurance careers.

We are particularly excited about the 2014 program because we anticipate expanding our program from 12 interns to 15 or more, and hope to increase our applicant pool to feed that expansion. We encourage any risk management, insurance or actuarial science students who are good candidates to apply before the December 1 deadline.

Sincerely,

Justin Mohn

Gamma Iota SIgma Meeting Monday November 4th

Hello All,

Mrs. Sharon Gallagher from All Risks Insurance will be speaking this Monday from 5-6pm in Cashion 305 and will have an opportunity for students to sign up after the meeting for interviews on Tuesday November 5th.

Here is a bio on Mrs. Gallagher and the All Risks program:

My name is Sharon Gallagher and I’m the lead university recruiter for a special internship and new hire program (All Risks University – ARU) here at All Risks, Ltd for RMI students. We just finished our 8th year with these 2 programs and have been told by the universities with which we’ve been partnering, that ours is one of the premier programs according to their students. We currently recruit from Indiana State Univ, Appalachian State Univ, Temple Univ, Univ of Georgia, Georgia State, Florida State Univ, Troy Univ, Univ of Mississippi and Virginia Commonwealth Univ as well as from the National GIS conference.

We’ve recently opened an office in Dallas, TX and we’d like to expand the successes we’ve had with our internship and ARU program into that new region and are interested in talking to you about making our opportunities known to your RMI students.

All Risks has proven to be a strong, financially profitable company with an historically high growth rate. We place strong emphasis on career development and learning, ensuring that our interns and new hires have the tools necessary to be successful.

We offer the opportunity to work in the Excess and Surplus Lines market, the segment of the insurance marketplace for specialty, surplus and difficult to place risks. With our strong focus on growth, both in expanding product lines and geographic presence, we feel we offer an outstanding opportunity for career development, financial rewards and continuous learning.

We look forward to seeing you there,

Ryan Campbell
