The speaker will be Erika Villavicencio from ISNetworld. She is a GIS alumni and will talk about her career at ISNetworld and how it relates to Risk Management.

Gamma Meeting Monday Feb. 11

Hey all!

I wanted to let you know that there will be a Gamma Iota Sigma meeting next Monday (Feb. 11) at 5:30 pm in Cashion room 110. We will have a speaker, Mike Magnuson who is a Baylor graduate that now works at American Contractors Insurance Group and currently leads the account management staff of the Risk Management Department.

We will also have our monthly meeting letting all members know about what is going on in Gamma in the Spring, as well as allowing those interested in joining the opportunity to ask questions and fill out applications. There is a conference in Chicago in March and one in Los Angeles in April. All active members are eligible to attend. Active membership means attending all Spring meetings.

I know that Dr. Garven is giving extra credit for attending in his class. I will (and you can too) check with the other RMI professors to see about extra credit in their classes for attending the meeting!

2013 NAPSLO Symposium

Here is some information about the NAPSLO conference in Chicago later in the semester. We will talk more about it during our next meeting and discuss members’ interest in going!

The Alpha Kappa Chapter will be hosting the 10th Annual “Extreme Risk Takers” NAPSLO Symposium in Chicago, IL sponsored by the Derek Hughes Educational Foundation from March 22-23, 2013. It will be held at the Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown Lakefront and the focus will be the surplus lines industry.

This is an incredible opportunity to interact with professionals in the Excess and Surplus Lines marketplace. Last year, we had over 100 students attend the symposium from chapters around the country, and we would love to increase that number this year! For those of you that are not familiar with the conference there is a career fair, cruise on the Chicago lakefront on the Odyssey, and other fantastic opportunities to learn about the Excess & Surplus Lines marketplace and network with members of NAPSLO.
